Description

A slab-built, structured, hollow form of porcelain with colored porcelain slip decoration over wax resist drawings of pattern. Further embellishment is achieved with underglaze painting and fired multiple times to achieve the layered surface.

Short Statement

I recently began an entire series of creating porcelain birds as a personal journey marking time, using a visual language of feminine pattern, color and symbols. Each is wrapped in adornment that speaks more about my personal mood and my setting, taking cues from the hues and motifs surrounding me and less about the specific species, thus, creating a visual diary.
