These terra cotta pillows are hand-built with ground layers applied in ceramic terra sig and stains, then multiple post-firing layers are added to the surface in a variety of mixed media. I work in series and choose the groupings as the drawings develop; the groupings create a sort of associative visual language or floating narrative.

This piece was fast-fired to achieve the matt consistency of the glaze, which was custom developed and brushed on.
