My thoughts revolved around a personal and collective feeling of grief, coupled with the strong impulse to protect what is valuable. What surprised me is this sassy character that emerged, a force to be reckoned with, taking control of the situation.

This piece emerged from the question: "How do we carry a loved one with us when they are gone?". I like the idea that perhaps we take on some of their finest attributes.

Working with clay is a lot like a stream of consciousness writing. I am in the moment with the thoughts and emotions as they are given shape. I am constantly trying to capture an emotion or a moment, to find a way to reflect on the process of living.

There seems to be a natural tendency to come together.
