Best Use of Color

This is a sculpture in a new series called Chalice. It is hand-built, using pinched coils, allowing a highly textured glaze finish. This is a first foray into functional sculpture. These elevated vessels are a symbolic way of offering food to the gods before serving it.

On the outer cup of the chalice, the jaguar family is in the jungle. A cayman, the jaguar's prey, lurks on the foot of the chalice.

Each image in this work represents a prayerful wish for happiness and prosperity. This work was meant to be a large talisman for bringing good fortune and protection from negative force.
