Pallets are an iconic form – one with poignancy. They allow for us to have life we live – however we tend to pay attention to whats on the pallet and overlook the pallet itself. I subvert the expectation of the discarded object to comment on human ingenuity.

Wheel-thrown porcelain. Multiple glazes beginning with my Albany slip base glaze. Poured, spayed, splashed glaze. I've realized over my 40 years of ceramic work that I am a porcelain lover. The potential for perfection, softness, and skill required have always consumed me. It will forever be my personal challenge.

Growth No.13 was created as I learned Breathe In Once Again, as I shed layers of self-doubt, as I let go of that which has weighed me down. This is a piece of my being, of my creation, a testament to my persistence, a love letter to living.

I'm fascinated by the sheer variety of human body types, whose genetic mutations, irregularities and idiosyncracies become especially apparent in groupings of individuals. I translate this information to my work by modulating proportion and scale within the various parts that comprise a whole.

Caress is part of the series of Face Vases. The pieces can be arranged in different ways, kissing, caressing, or upside-down to function as flower vases. The series explores gender and relationships.

My recent work is exploring how form and material interact with the atmosphere of the wood kiln, and exploiting the suppleness versus edge of clay at different stages of malleability.

Working in clay is both exciting and fulfilling. And I have had the great fortune to study with some wonderful potters with talent and passion for teaching others. I see their influences and cherish their contributions to my evolution. I particularly owe thanks to Makoto Yabe and Katie Parker.

Through my work, I reclaim space for play and delight, harkening to the uninhibited joy of young girlhood. Inspired by beading, and mosaics, I embrace aesthetics of excess and sentimentality, celebrating beauty, abundance, and unapologetic expression while challenging assumptions about femininity, gendered labor, and worth through vibrant, exuberant sculptures.

This bowl shows how important it is to me to carry a design throughout the entirety the form. Each large triangle moves from the exterior to the interior showing off a variety of underglaze colors giving the viewer visual interest at every angle.

The ragged glazed pieces on the vessel along with the carbon that seeped into the unglazed body suggests an earthiness, capturing an essence of earth.
